Job Summary

The Health & Safety Specialist is essential in promoting a Zero Incident Culture. They will lead incident investigations to determine contributing factors, root cause, and present potential corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to reduce incident reoccurrence. Reporting directly to the Sr Director of H&S, the Specialist will collaborate with H&S Director providing insight on incident trends, gaps, and areas of focus for regional H&S Managers.

This role requires the ability to lead investigations and present findings that will allow H&S to collaborate with regional leadership prioritizing accountability and employee well-being.

Travel Considerations: The H&S Specialist role involves light travel responsibilities to various markets for leadership meetings.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with local H&S Manager and leadership on incident investigations
  • Host Incident Management Review (IMR) following motor vehicle, personal injury, & property damage cases
  • Complete investigation requirements in HSE Portal (Ideagen)
  • Identify contributing factors, root cause, and assign action items to appropriate stakeholders
  • Present IMR findings to H&S, ER, and business stakeholders to align on best practices and next steps
  • Identify gaps and areas of opportunity in safety procedures
  • Analyze incident reports and injury case studies to identify incident trends, and present findings to H&S team
  • Collaborate on and propose changes to safety programs that lead to a safer working environment

Qualifications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years' previous work experience in utility or telecom industry preferred.
  • General OSHA and EPA knowledge preferred, OSHA certifications a plus.
  • Familiarity with RCA methods (fishbone, fault tree analysis, 5 Why's, etc.)
  • Attention to detail while maintaining high standard of quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to develop practical and effective solutions and action plans.
  • Ability to interpret and present data analysis for operational insights.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office suite, Google workspace.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $64,260.00- $78,000.00/year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
