Research Triangle Institute (RTI) has over 30 years' experience assisting governments, communities, and the private sector. RTI's Sustainable Growth & Resilience (SG&R) technical unit within the International Development Group brings together RTI experts and capabilities across food security, agriculture, energy, environment, water, governance, and economic opportunity. SG&R will leverage RTI's experience designing and delivering multisectoral programming and technical solutions to respond to climate change, build resilience, and promote economic growth around the world.

Project Description

The USAID-funded Pacific Economic Growth Activity will promote resilient and inclusive economic growth in two geographical areas (1) Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu and (2) Fiji, Kiribati, Palau, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Nauru, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu.

Position Description

The Country Representative - Solomon Islands will be responsible for coordinating country-level activities by consulting with stakeholders, organizing events, reporting on outcomes, and supporting country logistics.

This position will be based in the Solomon Islands.

Position is contingent upon award and funding.


Responsibilities

  • Support organization, development, and uptake of best practices aligned to improved climate resilience, strengthened public financial management and domestic resource mobilization, facilitation of trade and investment, and support to small and medium enterprises through capacity building, knowledge products and communications tools.
  • Build and maintain project networks within the country government, private sector, donor community, small and medium enterprises, and other stakeholders.
  • Support gender mainstreaming for country-level activities.
  • Support results reporting for M&E, contribute to work planning and other deliverables and communication products for country-level activities.
  • Respond to all requests to support program management and administration requirements at the country levels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience, Master's degree and 6 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining a network within the government and private sector partners to influence change.
  • Experience coordinating activities, workshops, and trainings.
  • Understanding of cross-cutting issues including private sector engagement, environmental resilience, gender equity and social inclusion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated managerial skills.
  • Advanced fluency in English required.
  • Ability to work throughout Solomon Islands, travelling as needed.
